I started with an authentic Louis Vuitton Cabas Mezzo that had been in a dog fight (not kidding...lol). The dog ate the handles, but fortunately left the canvas and interior in pristine condition!!! The bottom vachetta had some staining, so I dyed all of it black.  I cleaned the interior and exterior and added leather straps that have a drop height of 14\" but can be adjusted down to 12\".  The strap holders were in good condition, but one of them was tearing a tiny bit, so I decided to add LV canvas around them to give it more strength, and then secured everything with brass concho\/screws.
