The Chat Crossbody - Vintage Monogram in Tan
This crossbody bag was created from an authentic Louis Vuitton Nile bag. It was in rough shape, but I've cleaned it up and she's ready for her second chance!!
The bag is in decent shape, however, there are a couple of small tears in the canvas at the top. It's been cleaned top to bottom, and the vachetta has been conditioned. The original side straps have been replaced with new vachetta, and I've added new gold D-rings to them. The interior is in awesome shape as well, and very clean. The zippered pocket, however, is UNUSEABLE. The Vuittonite (see below) in the pocket has deteriorated so badly that it could not be repaired without affecting the integrity of the bag. The zippers have been polished and work great. I've paired this bag with a brown canvas strap that is adjustable from 30.5-50" long.
There is one front pocket, and a roomy interior in the top zippered pocket. This is a bag that holds lots of stuff, coming in at W11.8 x H7.9 x D4.7".
Please note: This is a vintage bag, and will show some wear. I try to call out everything, but please make sure to look at the pictures!! I will NOT accept returns on this bag due to the zippered pocket being unusable as it was fully disclosed above!
About Vuittonite: Prior to 1997, Louis Vuitton lined many of its bags with a vinyl-like material known as Vuittonite. It was used (and patented) by Louis Vuitton because its resistance to water makes it easy to clean. Unfortunately, when exposed to high heat or humidity, Vuittonite begins to deteriorate and peel away from the edges of the bag. Over time, it becomes increasingly sticky, forming a residue (which, in extreme cases, is black in color) that transfers to anything placed inside the bag. If your Vuittonite is starting to get sticky, try putting some talcum powder inside, lightly coating it. It works!!!
