The Harrier Shoulder Bag in Black Monogram
This beautiful new style bag called the Harrier was created from a gorgeous authentic Louis Vuitton Boulogne 35!! The zipper was broken, so I removed the top section and gave it some new life!!
The vachetta on this bag had some staining and some cracks, so I've dyed it black and conditioned the heck out of it! The top of this larger bag (W 13.8" x H 8.7" x D 4.3") is stitched by hand with black leather lace. The interior was thoroughly cleaned, and is in really good condition! The interior pocket zipper was broken, but I've mended it and removed the Vuittonite inside, leaving a soft gray flannel fabric. I added brass eyelets to the side to secure the brass O-Ring clasp for the handle. The new handle is a 6-strand black braided leather strap that is flat where it sits on your shoulder, and round towards the brass clasps. It is 32" long and has a fringe that can be trimmed down if desired. I also added a beautiful brass chain to give the bag some visual interest. You can even use the brass chain as a handle if you'd like (remove the braided one), or remove it completely. There are hidden magnetic snaps inside keeping your items secure.
Please note: These are vintage bags, and will show some wear. I try to call out everything, but please make sure to look at the pictures!!
About Vuittonite: Prior to 1997, Louis Vuitton lined many of its bags with a vinyl-like material known as Vuittonite. It was used (and patented) by Louis Vuitton because its resistance to water makes it easy to clean. Unfortunately, when exposed to high heat or humidity, Vuittonite begins to deteriorate and peel away from the edges of the bag. Over time, it becomes increasingly sticky, forming a residue (which, in extreme cases, is black in color) that transfers to anything placed inside the bag. If your Vuittonite is starting to get sticky, try putting some talcum powder inside, lightly coating it. It works!!!
